It is up to people in the helping professions, studying to enter the helping professions, and their instructors to be aware of this possibility and to neutralize it. Of those studies, 13 (62%) found a significant positive association between R/S and a healthier diet (one at a trend level) and one found a worse diet [ 305 ]. And suppose God later wants to raise all of them, both the Christian and the cannibals. Scores were determined according to the following eight criteria: study design (clinical trial, prospective cohort, cross-sectional, etc.), sampling method (random, systematic, or convenience), number of R/S measures, quality of measures, quality of mental health outcome measure, contamination between R/S measures and mental health outcomes, inclusion of control variables, and statistical method, based on a scheme adapted from Cooper [ 25 ].

Like most of my colleagues, I wasn't fortunate enough to have taken a course in the field myself. (See Richard Gorsuch's comments on psychology of religion's future --they are very relevant here!) Bit by bit, as I read other people's writing and research, and as I conduct my own research, I learn about the field. Clinical health psychologists identify this way of thinking as being a bio-psycho-social model. Pseudoscience, or pseudoscientism, includes the use of the scientific label to protect and promote opinions which are neither provable nor refutable.
